Framing the Fight – The Operating Environment: What’s Changed Since Last Year

This session establishes the operational foundation for the Space Mobility Conference by examining the future fight from two complementary perspectives.

USSPACEOM will frame the evolving operating environment, identifying the adversary capabilities, behaviors, threats, and emerging conditions that should shape assumptions about future military space operations. The U.S. Space Force will then examine what those conditions mean for force design: the characteristics, operational options, and attributes the force will require to create and maintain combat advantage in an increasingly contested domain.

Rather than a traditional threat briefing or a discussion of individual technologies and programs, the conversation will focus on the connection between the environment the Joint Force expects to face and the force it must prepare to employ within it.

The objective is to establish the demand signal for the discussion that follow: the operational tempo the warfighter will require, the capabilities and options commanders must have available, how quickly those capabilities can be delivered, how combat power can be restored when degraded or lost, and what will be required to sustain the force through prolonged operations.
