Humans Beyond Earth: Crew Suits, Habitats, and Human Performance
Living and working beyond Earth will test more than vehicles; it will test the human system. This panel examines how spacesuits, habitats, life-support systems, medical capabilities, training, behavioral health, and human-performance technologies must work together to keep crews safe and effective during autonomous missions. Panelists will explore the transition from short-duration operations to sustained lunar presence, where delayed communications, limited evacuation options, radiation, isolation, fatigue, and maintenance demands reshape both engineering and operational decisions. The conversation will consider how crew feedback, analog environments, digital twins, embedded monitoring, and design can reduce risk without overwhelming astronauts with complexity. It will also examine the role of commercial providers in delivering human-rated systems and services that remain interoperable across missions and platforms.
