Lunar Water Bank™: Making Lunar Water Verifiable, Distributed, and Financeable

The first lunar water economy will not begin with trading. It will begin with trust.

As sustained lunar operations move closer to reality, water is becoming more than an ISRU target (OASIS-WATERIG™). It can support life support, oxygen production, hydrogen fuel, propellant logistics, thermal buffering (FIRN™ & TARN™), mobility (MoonFall-FLARE™), water-enabled manufacturing processes, emergency reserves, and long-term surface infrastructure. Yet extraction alone does not create a functioning commercial system. Lunar water must be measured, verified, stored, assigned, delivered, and settled before it can support contracts, insurance, infrastructure finance, public-private service models, and future cislunar commerce.

This presentation introduces the Lunar Water Bank™ as a distributed utility, custody, and settlement architecture for lunar water-derived resources. The model is different from traditional Earth mining. Instead of simply extracting a commodity from a reserve and selling it into a mature market, lunar water must operate as mission-critical infrastructure: a network of distributed storage nodes, verified inventory records, quality grades, custody assignments, metering systems, utility interfaces, service-level obligations, and settlement rails.

The talk will outline how such a system could evolve in stages: from concept standards and analog demonstrations, to verified inventory, to utility node operations, to multi-node settlement infrastructure. With these rails in place, lunar water could become a verifiable vehicle for cislunar investment — not through speculation, but through trusted records of usable inventory, reserved service capacity, and delivery obligations.

The central question is no longer only: “Can we extract lunar water?” It is: “How do we make lunar water dependable enough to fund, insure, deliver, and build around?”
