SpaceCom: INNOVATE

Commercial space stations promise to preserve human presence in low Earth orbit while opening markets for research, manufacturing, national security, tourism, and international access. Yet the challenge is no longer whether industry can design stations—it is whether a durable customer base will support them. This panel examines demand in the commercial LEO transition. Panelists will discuss NASA’s role as an anchor customer, the needs of other agencies and sovereign users, and the evidence required to convert microgravity applications into repeatable business. The conversation will explore procurement, pricing, utilization, transportation, insurance, financing, safety, and timing risks when platforms and customers develop on different schedules. It will ask what station operators must standardize—or differentiate—to attract users beyond aerospace. Attendees will gain a candid view of which markets can mature soon enough, what commitments investors require, and how government and industry can build a competitive LEO ecosystem in which innovation is matched by paying customers.
