Generating Combat Advantage in Space

This panel will examine the range of operational choices commanders may need to shape the battlespace, respond to changing conditions, create dilemmas for an adversary, and preserve freedom of action throughout a conflict.

Panelists will explore how capabilities such as maneuver, electromagnetic warfare, cyber operations, deception and signature management, autonomy, servicing and refueling, commercial augmentation, and other emerging approaches can expand the commander’s available courses of action. The discussion will consider not simply what these capabilities can do individually, but how they combine to give commanders more ways to anticipate, act, adapt, and maintain advantage as the fight evolves. The panel will also examine the logistics implications of providing those choices. What must be positioned, supplied, serviced, transported, replenished, connected, or otherwise made available so that an operational option exists when the commander needs it? And how should operational requirements inform force design, acquisition, and logistics planning so that commanders are not constrained by the capabilities and support structures available today?

The objective is to define the range of options commanders will need across the full arc of a conflict and examine how the Space Logistics Enterprise can make those options operationally available at the time and place required by the mission.
