David Chesny
Dr. David Chesny is the Chief Science Officer at Equilibria Power, where he leads the development and testing of advanced pulsed power, power management, and electric propulsion technologies for space, fusion, and defense applications. His current work includes the design and analysis of solid-state power management and distribution architectures, electrical generation and energy storage systems for space fission power, high-power magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters, and advanced pulsed-energy storage systems. Dr. Chesny is an applied physicist with more than fifteen years of experience in advanced technology development, with expertise spanning pulsed power, plasma physics, electromagnetics, precision diagnostics, control systems, power electronics, and modeling and simulation. Prior to joining Equilibria Power, he served as Chief Scientist of SpaceWave, LLC, where he led experimental plasma physics and electric propulsion development programs and served as Principal Investigator on a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science research grant. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics and Space Sciences from Florida Institute of Technology and his B.S. in Physics from Muhlenberg College. Dr. Chesny is an inventor on multiple U.S. patents involving magnetic reconnection, solid-state pulsed-power switching, and plasma jet magneto-inertial fusion, and has published extensively in plasma physics, space technology, and advanced electromagnetic systems.
