Emily Mills
Dr. Emily Mills serves as a senior researcher and Deputy Director of RDT&E for Design Interactive in Orlando, Florida. Her work emphasizes the safe and empowering integration of research and technology to advance human performance. She is the Chair of the NDIA Human Systems Division. Dr. Mills holds degrees in biomedical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the University of Florida. She previously led research supporting the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and Naval Medical Research Unit–Dayton, focusing on post-injury training, aviator neck and back pain, cognitive workload effects, and evaluating emerging systems for military applications. Her current research centers on leveraging physiological data as a strategic asset for performance optimization, developing tools that drive behavioral and performance change, enhancing training effectiveness, and advancing methods to monitor and optimize human-AI system configurations.
