James Tralie
James Tralie is a planetary science producer and animator at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, where he combines scientific expertise with visual storytelling to make complex discoveries accessible and engaging. Working directly with scientists and engineers across NASA’s planetary missions, he creates videos, animations, visualizations, and interactive experiences—from immersive views of asteroid Bennu to documentaries about astronaut geology training for lunar exploration.
A graduate of Princeton University in geosciences, Tralie incorporated filmmaking and animation into scientific research early in his career. His work at NASA has included communications and visualization projects for the OSIRIS-REx mission, including a 360-degree experience that placed viewers on Bennu during the spacecraft’s Touch-and-Go sampling maneuver, augmented-reality content, and a collaborative project with the WNBA. He continues to explore innovative ways to connect audiences with science, space exploration, and discovery.
