Jonathan Bal
Jonathan leads the DoW portfolio at OpenAI for Government, expanding access to frontier models, enabling model deployment in classified government environments, and building partnerships across the defense industrial base.
Over more than 15 years - including active-duty service in the U.S. Air Force supporting Special
Operations and Combat Air Forces - he has held leadership positions spanning military operations and acquisition, command-and-control product development, enterprise system modernization, defense technology, and frontier AI. He has built and scaled teams, products, and portfolios that move emerging technology from demonstration to operational capability.
Jonathan combines operator credibility, product judgment, acquisition fluency, and commercial
execution to align government leaders, technologists, and industry partners around mission outcomes. He holds an MBA from Cornell University.
